I am a busy boy preparing for my April show at Ripley. Old frames are being cleaned and painted, boards are being cut to fit found frames, new paint is being applied to boards and canvases. Time is running away from me.
A cry for help has six of us showing for two more weeks at this small gallery. Visit and show your support. Make yourself known and organise your own show. Enjoy!
Well, all AGMs attract criticism for their tedious boredom. I pronise that next week's meeting willl be far from that... The business should be completed very quickly and then we'll look at paintings. New members need have no fear that criticism will be negative in nature, the aim of the game is encouragement, as collectively we suggest ways to improve works that are proving difficult. So, please attend and bring your stuff - paintings and critical faculties - and we'll have fun!
The Open Art 2014 Exhibtion
An exhibition which includes a number of B.A.S. members showing their work, I also have two paintings, The sculpture work is first class. The exhibition is free admission to The Stables Gallery which is a purpose designed gallery that was opened in 2008 in the former stables of Hall Place, a Grade 1 Listed building set in its own park. There is adequate parking around the main building. Worth a trip.

I am trying to be more active in 2014 than in 2013. Here's an advance notice that I will be showing my Land, Sea and Air paintings at the Ripley Arts Centre from Tuesday 1 April until Friday 25 April with an OPEN EVENING on Wednesday 2 April between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm. Everybody is welcome to the refreshments. There will be new stuff as well as some of the pieces from the attic.
Stephen Oliver's studio and gallery is located at the Orchard Shopping Centre, Dartford. He has invited local artists to display their work with his for the next three months and I am taking up the offer. I'll put up three of mine this afternoon. Come and visit. Visit, too, his webpage - he keeps us up to date with what is going on in artistic endeavour.
I have been looking at my September Folkestone photos - references for paintings. About half-a-dozen have been printed, one of them needs to be printed again to get at the details. This afternoon, I worked on a canvas and managed to get most of the drawing done and fixed. I plan to work at it tomorrow. While the paint dries I'll start another.
Happy New Year everybody.
The programme for 2014 looks really good yet again, thanks to the hard work of Penny.
I'm looking forward to a wonderful year of creativity.
My dream is that our exhibitions will display the diverse nature of our art society with works that are influenced by our different nationalities, cultures and environment.
Perhaps my pieces will 'prove' my Welshness. What will yours 'prove'?
Let's all get to work with gusto. (Does anyone know where he or she is?)
A good show at the Central Library. Worth a visit. Pat is prolific. Lots of interested visitors and sales have been good. It ends on Tuesday next.
WOW! Ailsa's Easel is a joy! With my large screen monitor I can read without effort. Pictures are easy to see except for the few pixelated, but they are no problem. I am thrilled with the first issue, as we should all be. The Christmas hols. should give us time to reflect and write pieces for the Spring publication and that includes me. Thanks, Ailsa. Incidentally, I notice that there are 21 guests online while I type; usually there are no more than two or three.
