What a super demo.! A lively piece of work by a lively character. We must invite the chap again.

Hashim has very kindly allowed me to upload a copy of his demonstration picture, which I took with a mobile phone. I have added it to Allan's piece. [Ed]
A Challenge
I thought it would be fun to try a painting in the style shown to us by Hashim. This is as far as I got in two hours, including painting and drying the background, so about the same as Hashim spent.
It's clearly not a finished work, but I felt encouraged to have got so far at a first attempt. I touched up the second building from the right and as Hashim warned it has become dull and lifeless.
Fancy having a go? You cannot upload the pictures to a comment yourself , but our webmaster, Adrian, has agreed to upload them as an experiment.
Brushes
What great fun! Having seen the super brushes Hashim used in the demo. I 'phoned GreatArt and ordered some and a few other little extras. They arrived within three days and that meant another yippee from me. Needless to say, they have been used and I love 'em. The handle fits nicely in the palm of my hand and the hairs have just the right stiffness and flexibility that I like. Bold arm movements with a fixed wrist gives great freedom. Try 'em and see. You'll need a biggish canvas, of course.
Great education from a great educator.
Not only that. He could obviously see the finished work in his mind's eye, so that he knew where to put each brush stroke to achieve what he wanted. He also knew, with a rather cheeky manner, that we would all think it a dog's dinner to begin with.
Great education from a great educator.
